New Zealand Visa Update: Group Visitor and Tour Escort Applications Move Online
Immigration New Zealand has moved Group Visitor and Tour Escort Visitor Visa applications to enhanced Immigration Online for new applications.

Immigration New Zealand has moved Group Visitor Visa and Tour Escort Visitor Visa applications to its enhanced Immigration Online system. The change took effect on 24 August 2026 and applies to new online applications. For travellers, tour agencies and groups planning a visit to New Zealand, this is mainly a process update rather than a change to the purpose of these visa categories.
What has changed
According to Immigration New Zealand, new applications for Group Visitor Visas and Tour Escort Visitor Visas are now handled through the enhanced Immigration Online platform. This includes Group Visitor Visa applications under Approved Destination Status, known as ADS, as well as general Group Visitor Visa applications.
The update also covers Tour Escort Visitor Visas and General Visitor Visas for ADS-free and independent travellers. In practical terms, new applicants in these categories should use the enhanced online system rather than the older form.
Immigration New Zealand has said the enhanced platform is intended to simplify the visa application process, improve communication about application status, and expand self-service options. A new feature also allows Group Visitor Visa applicants to share their application with other group members and tour agency staff involved in the process.
What this means for migrants
For most applicants, the key point is to make sure the correct system is used for any new application. Immigration New Zealand has advised applicants to use enhanced Immigration Online for new applications to reduce the risk of delays linked to the old system.
If an application was already submitted through the old system before the change, Immigration New Zealand says it will continue to be processed. Applicants can still upload documents and respond to requests from INZ until a decision is made. This should provide reassurance for people who have already lodged an application and are waiting for an outcome.
Applicants who have started, but not submitted, a draft application on the old form need to take particular care. Immigration New Zealand has said draft applications on the old form must be completed and submitted by 7 October 2026. Any remaining drafts will be deleted on 8 October 2026. After that date, applicants will need to start a new application in the enhanced system.
This update may be especially relevant for organised tour groups, ADS-related travel arrangements, tour escorts, and independent travellers who are preparing visitor visa applications. It does not remove the need to provide accurate information and appropriate supporting documents. It simply changes where these applications should be lodged and managed online.
What to do next
If you are preparing a New Zealand Visa application in one of the affected visitor categories, check whether you are starting a new application or continuing an application that has already been submitted. New applications should be made through the enhanced Immigration Online system.
If you have a draft application saved on the old form, review it promptly and decide whether it should be completed and submitted before 7 October 2026. If it is not submitted by then, it may be deleted on 8 October 2026 and you may need to begin again in the enhanced system.
If you are part of a group, it may also be useful to coordinate early with the people involved in the application, including group members or tour agency staff. The new sharing function may help with coordination, but applicants should still ensure that information is complete, consistent and accurate before submission.
